  1. Handbrake keeps dropping the audio track if i chose the AAC passthru to convert tracks of other formats. I think it started after an update. I have 1.0.7 (64bit) now. it works if i don't chose the passthru option but i want to keep the best quality possible with AAC.

I don't know what to do.

You mean other audio formats like AC3, DTS, ... ? AAC passthru can only ever copy AAC. It will never work in any other way. If you want to have AAC output but have e.g. DTS input you need to choose the other AAC options. It's impossible to "passthru" non-AAC to AAC.

  3. Actually i did that all the time. I had AAC passthru as my default option for all videos. It used to copy any AAC track and convert other tracks to AAC. It's only recently that i've seen this problem.

I changed Audio default settings and it's converting to AAC fine now.

  4. Then you are not using 1.0.7 and "AAC passthru". But there were changes to the nightly builds that affect the audio selection. Either way "AAC passthru" will still not have better quality than selecting "AAC (avcodec)" or "[HE-]AAC (FDK)" if the source track is not in AAC format to begin with.
