Hello.
So I've been researching how to upload 8k to youtube effectively for a very long time. I can get it done with webm and mpeg4. However the file sizes and render times are unbearable. Up to 20 times worse.. I discovered that you can use a codec called Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1).
I am unable to figure out how to actually use this codec. Search engines are being useless as there is such a high volume market of those keywords.
First thing that comes up is divx download link... I already have it, and i've reinstalled that player/program/codec pack like three times. It's not helping me and it doesn't answer my question.
How do I export with preimiere pro via Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) codec?
h.264 is different from H264 - MPEG-4 AVC. There is so much spam and useless crap. This is torture.

You can use MainConcept encoder , encode H.264 within Premiere and encode, if it is slow, well, what are you going to do, it is 8k video, you might upgrade your computer, make sure presets are at least medium or better towards fast settings, that can speed up encoding, also check your CPU, it should be close to 100%. If not, encoding is not using all the power your PC has.
There is one thing though, you are right, it is not stressed enough over web (except on this forum of course), Premiere encodes only 2pass VBR which is waste of the time, or 1pass CBR wich is faster but totally inappropriate to encode for such a large resolutions. 1pass VBR in there is quite useless also.
Video editors and their encoding engines are stuck in dark ages, not offering CRF encoding - 1pass quality encoding. That meas you choose quality and it just encodes 1pass , which is faster than 2pass.
Debug mode frame server can go around this, but that suppose to be buggy working together with Premiere. Supposedly more than Sony Vegas that I can read about on this forum.
You can export a huge lossless file from Premiere first a and then using whatever x264 front-end encoder to encode that lossless to H.264 for youtube, but you'd need some extra hardisk to encode it to.
In all cases you do not need to pay for anything. The exception, I guess, is that x264 plug-in for Premiere, that allows that 1pass CRF encoding right from within Premiere , but if you do it all the time, or producing something that makes you money or you just can afford it, why not. CRF is just a way to encode quality you want and only using one pass. You do not select bitrates or overall size for this type of encodings. It distributes bitrate depending on that quality quantizer you select. It is just a number. The lower the number you get better quality but volume gets larger. But of course if you already encode 1pass (you were not clear about this) overall encoding time might not improve. You just might help it selecting those faster encoding presets. In general, faster preset would cause even larger volume but because using CRF encoding, quality would stay the same (within certain limits).Last edited by _Al_; 21st Apr 2017 at 16:05.
