Black Screen with TMPGEnc

When I try to convert some AVI's I download to vcd mpeg it just converts with a black screen. I hav ehte correct codec and they play perfectly. I need your help!

I had the same problem. I reinstalled the DivX-codec from www.divx.com and the problem was history.

I could (too) watch the movie in Media Player or The Playa or whatever, but the screen was black in virtualdub and tmpgenc.

If you are using 2-pass VBR, which is what it sounds like, then that is what it is supposed to do. The first 50% of encoding, which is the first pass, will be just a black screen!!! After 50%, the second pass will start, and you should start seeing frames!!!
