I have an EXE that opens a standalone player (exported from a DVR) and has some video embedded in it. I'd like to extract the raw video so I don't have to play it in their player.

It may be possible if they used standard compression methods, eg., you could right click the file and select extract ...

Well, it depends a lot on the .EXE itself. As davexnet said, MAYBE you can extract the contents with 7-Zip or with UniExtract (or with something else).
But if the .exe uses non-standard "packaging" OR/AND is encrypted, then capturing the video during playback will be the only workaround.
