I have some AVI video files and, when I play them in a video player (such as Potplayer), they're displayed in 16:9 instead of 4:3.

It's definitely a video file fault as everything else plays perfectly in the players.

I know I could alter it in the players but that's not permanent and it messed up the other 99% of working video files.

Is it possible to fix aspect ratios in an AVI video file without having to reencode it?

I'm happy to pop it into a different container, if that's an option?

  2. Try MPEG4Modifier. It that doesn't work you can resort to muxing into mkv using mkvmerge.
