  1. I have an mkv file with multiple audio sources and took it apart to remove all but the english one
This is an AC3 file which i'm trying to merge using MKVToolnix. The problem is that this AC3 track shows 2 times in Media Player Classic

So far i tried all options in MKV Toolnix for 'Default track' 'Froced track' and AC3 shows up even if i use a different DTS audio file. Why?

  2. Does the .ac3 file have the same file name as the movie and is in the same folder and do you have "Auto-load audio files" activated in MPC-HC Options>Playback?

Why not use MKVToolnix to strip out the unwanted tracks without taking it apart?

This should be easiest. Just remux with MKVToolNix and keep only the tracks you want.

YES. I moved the audio files to another directory and it worked. LOL why does media player classic load audio files from a directory ? Thanks

Because sometimes the audio and the video are in separate files with the same base name but different extension. Just like sometimes subtitles are in a separate file.
