  1. I tried to author a DVD with SpruceUp, but it wouldn't play in my standalone, so i decided to give DVDit a try. I have DVDit PE, which allows conversion of the audio to Dolby Digital. I used DVDit to put together the same DVD that i did with SpruceUp, but the output file size was 7.1 GB??????????? When i used SpruceUp, the file size was 3.5 GB??????
I went back and checked all of my settings, and they seemed fine. I had to remove two of my video clips in order to get the size down under 4.7 GB... anyone have any suggestions?

  2. Check that the audio settings are set to Dolby Digital AC3 in DvdIt, otherwise it defaults to PCM which is uncompressed and takes HUGE amounts of space!

  3. The audio WAS set to Dolby Digital. I saved the project to my hard drive, and it came out at about 3.6GB. For whatever reason, it doesn't seem like DVDit is noticing that i have "Dolby Digital" selected.
But this brings me to another problem. I used Cinematograph to test my saved project, and everything worked flawlessy. However, when i actually burned the disc, the audio was HORRIBLY out of sync. I checked the files again, and they're perfectly fine when played from the hard drive, but the disc is off by several seconds.
Anyone have any suggestions? (Someone suggested that i should make sure my audio files were converted to 48KHz - they were converted, no question about it.)

  4. Whne you say the output file was 7.1 Gb, do you mean that was the project size reported by DvDit or the actual size of the project when output to Hard Disk, coz I know DVDit has some problems in calculating the project size correctly. Saving the project, clsoing and restarting DVDit often (but not always) sorts thsi out.

As to your Audio Sync problem, all I can say is that I have had the problems here also. The audio goes in and out of sync quite badly, seemingly getting worse as the movie goes on. I don't have a solution to this myself so I too would be grateful if anybody knows how to fix this. Using MyDvd 2.3 does not have this problem, but this is limited to PCM audio which wastes LOADS of space!

  5. Sorry for not being clear. The 7.1GB was the size that DVDit was reporting, but when i actually exported the prject, it was about 3.6GB. Does anyone know of a way to get DVDit to report the correct project size?
