  2. Copyman, re-read your post I think you made a mistake you said you bought a dvd burner on the first line but the second line says dvd rom. If you are looking to make vcd's with you cdr burner then your in the right place. however if you your looking to make dvd's then check out www.doom9.com or look at the links page to your left

  3. Copyman-
I don't mean to burst your bubble, but if you bought a:

toshiba cdrw dvd rom sd r1002

like you said you did, then you didn't get a DVD writer...this drive will read CDs and DVDs and it will ONLY write CDs...so you can use this drive to burn VCDs, but there is NO WAY that you can burn DVDs of any type with this drive...if you made a typing error in your question, then thats one thing, but if you thought you bought a drive that can burn DVDs, then do some more research next time before you make a purchase...

  4. If you didnt spend like 400-700 dollars for the drive, its a CDrw. Not DVD-RW. These are hybrid drives that read/write cds. But only READ DVD discs. Sorry.

Beracuda, you accidentally asked a question under somebody else's question, so I doubt you will find this again.

beracuda, try the guides under HOW TO on the left side of your screen.

Read about what exactly VCDs are in the WHAT IS.

The guides and how-to's are excellent, and some may even cover your specific hardware.

You will probably be using this one, so here is a link:
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm

It takes time to learn it all, I like to print things out and read them when I have a minute.

    good luck.
