  1. If I wanted to upscale 24p to 48p, what software will provide the clearest motion with the least artifacts?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Twixtor is very popular. No doubt someone here will have some avisynth ideas as well.

I've had good luck with this free avisynth plugin. Should work well when it's just doubling the frame rate, but it supports 3x and more but with worse results. They also have a payed version. Other payed products will probably be better but I barely use the free version I mentioned.

  4. Here's SubJunk's thread on the AviSynth filter Interframe, which is designed to do what you're asking:

    Thanks!
    Is Twixtor the best alternative?

I know about SVP, but I am really searching for something with less artefacts.

  6. You get about the same amount and degree artifacts with them all, even twixtor, in "automatic" mode .

The exception is when you use guide the motion estimation with user input using the "pro" versions (twixtor pro, kronos) using things like motion tracking, mattes, splines. It can be very time consuming depending on the type of content. Some types of content cannot be interpolated very well regardless of what you do - low motion samples (e.g. low rate cel animation/ cartoons ) , motion blur, object deformations

So if you were going to use them in "automatic' mode, then don't bother spending any money . Use one of the mvtools derivatives
