Hi Xplorr, downloading of Vrt.be/nu video's isn't possible anymore. For examlpe: https://www.vrt.be/vrtnu/a-z/galaxy-park/3/galaxy-park-s3a17/
This video doesn't work anymore. It is a video with geoblock, but it always worked till today.
Can you fix this problem? -

You can manually fix most of the download problems by updating manually youtube-dl.exe and ffmpeg ..

Tested it also with just copy/paste doenst work at all. I remember that he needs to do some coding. because Youtube-dl doenst support the SBS and VMM tv stations. So yeah we have to wait. on a response off Xplorr

@kamala,steveschumi and others, TVDownloader uses a custom version of youtube-dl tuned for Dutch TV. Downloading the official version of youtube-dl will fail for Dutch TV (VTM, Vier, VRT, NPO,...).
Problem with Medialaan (VTM.be, ...) is fixed in version 1.17 (see first page of this thread).

Yeah same problem here. VTM has update there website because of the new Privacy rules. So the prog doenst work anymore.

@xplorr Since VTM has been offering only the DRM-protected version of their full episodes for a few days now (see thread from GemistDownloader), do you think there will ever be a solution for this problem, or is bypassing that protection certainly illegal?

I started looking at the VTM-Medialaan issue 2 days ago. I can confirm @smikkeltjen's comment. There was a GDPR warning issue which could be fixed easily, but besides that, VTM decided to support only DRM protected media. HLS-Encrypted media are not available anymore.
DRM protection means that Medialaan provides their content as copyrighted material. The policy of TVDownloader has always been not to infringe on copyrighted material, and only support "free" downloadable material. So, even if this DRM issue could be fixed, I have no intention on infringing on DRM protected material. Only if VTM continues to provides non-DRM-protected material, there is hope for a quick fix. I have also opened an issue at youtube-dl, but AFAIK, youtube-dl's policy is also to not support DRM protected material.

Use a browser's Developer Tools (F12). Go to the Network tab while loading the page and playing the video, look for an m3u8 link. Then use youtube-dl with that url on the command line (copy url from the browser, paste into CLI):

I tried posting this on github at youtube-dl bugs but feels like no one wanted to listen to me and they gave me bullshit reasons about vpn's ...... but I've tried everything.

I tested too, I have 2 vpn's, and with only 1 vpn works and only in USA to download. It works with that long url and works even with this url http://www.hotstar.com/1000213307. but the speed it's way to low like 15 minutes for a 360p episode. I know it may be because of vpn but only 20% , I mention I have HideMyAss vpn and it's pretty fast.
this it's the problem we all have WARNING: Failed to download m3u8 information: HTTP Error 403: Forbidden , I talked with others and they have same problem. maybe someone will take a look at what hotstar changed in their website and update youtube-dl. "maybe" I hope so.
and please stop saying it's a problem of VPN , no it's not. the thing it's that with India vpn shouldn't have any problem because hotstar.com it's only for india, and why it it's working only with usa and with india vpn no ?
it's strange but something they changed and improved their protection.
