I used to use WeTransfer, but it's free tier of service at 2GB max file size is unworkable for what I do, most of the time. I have a subscription to 1fichier, which is O.K., but it remains under court threat and it's future is cloudy. filetransfer.io was comparable to swisstransfer, until it got taken over by limewire and (IMO) got taken straight into the crapper. I see mixed references to gofile. For the time being, swisstransfer might be the "last of the Mohicans." Not aware of another free service like that whose very generous terms and anonymity make me want to use it.

Is Mega still requiring that you download, install, and use their own dedicated xfer app, for files over a certain size ? (Not recalling what that size was, but it wasn't huge -- maybe something like 2 or 4 GB ?) If so, I had found that to be a dealbreaker. (I don't install software that I don't have a VERY good idea what it is and what it does.)

Despite the fact that the latest version of this TVDownloader application (v1.19f January 2025) was (initially successful) fixing issues for youtube, there are now again issues with youtube-downloads ("requested format is not available")
Anybody an idea how this can be resolved ?

I bet the cause is not limited to this one program: my not-all-that-old copies of MediaHuman YT DL and Videoget have also ceased working. Most likely due to periodic YT countermeasures that will demand their own counter-countermeasures from these programs. (Tubedigger and Allavsoft DL were still working for this, so I haven't been shut out entirely. All the more reason not to be reliant on just one software option.)

Tried this in a few of my (other) downloader apps -- and you do need to have several different ones that you can try, for whenever a problem is encountered -- but only got an "Unsupported URL" error. Don't know why, or what that spoken language may be, offhand. I wonder if something like Ant Downloader or JDownloader2 could work, but haven't tried those on this link. However it did play directly in my browser. My presumption is that a screen recorder program should work, albeit at only a reduced quality. That is kind of a last resort in such cases. There are probably some of those here in the Tools section.

Yeah that apparently worked. (Now will have to machine translate, to make this worth watching.) But wonder why a bunch of other downloaders whiffed on this ? Some of them even make some use of yt-dlp, internally.

Uhm, having to walk that back now: yt-dlp GUI reports the file as having gotten downloaded, yet I cannot find any trace of it anywhere, even using wildcards + the Everything utility app, which just about never fails to find stuff.

Curious results: Masstube and (even) Tubedigger were among the FAILS in attempts to pull this one in. NYT Downloader (certainly worth adding to your downloaders toolbox, from Github) said that it got it, including subtitles, but the video almost immediately freezes. Allavsoft downloader supposedly got it, but the resulting video is only 28 seconds long, whereas it should probably run around 54 minutes. (?) Haven't run thru all the DL possibles on this yet, but am wondering just what the problem is ?
