Anyone an idea why this suddenly wouldn't be working while it worked seamless for all other episodes of this series ? (even this same evening - s1e13 went smoothless)

Update: I had the above 3-4 times in a row, and after posting this I tried again, and guess what... it runs again without a problem. No idea why. Strange.

ffmpeg is part of and installed with TVDownloader.
You could try replacing ffmpeg.exe with a newer version from https://www.ffmpeg.org/
Let me know of it helped, so I can change ffmpeg in future distribution of TVDownloader.

At vrt.nu there's however no improvement, i.e. the error message mentioned above remains and it doesn't change anymore after even 10+ trials - on the contrary, I now got this message:

But only with the episode I tried earlier on (Flikken S02E02), not with the newer one of today (Flikken S02E03), which gives the previous error related to ffmpeg.

Truly hope that ffmpeg update can help solving this but I'm not specialized enough compared to a lot of others here to try this out myself.

Indeed, issue seems to be with the _aes addition - which was mainly required for international programs, but it seems more and more own productions to also require this (e.g. Flikken) and that's where the issue now comes up.

I haven't checked these myself, but I can say that TVDownloader does not support DRM protected media, as it is against the policy of the program.

I think we can conclude it's impossible to download from VRTnu. My guess is that they made everything DRM protected because of Streamz. And I don't think a solution will be found.

I will say, make a call to Streamfab (product of DVDfab) to add support for the Belgium platforms. More requests means more attention to work on it.
Yes that will be a paid (pretty expensive) function but they are supporting their services for lifetime. At this moment more or another ''legal ways'' to save those videos for private use are unthinkable. For now there are not enough requests to get their attention to work on these sites.

i don't believe that any of these programs are ready to downloading videos with DRM protection ... it would be a "non-legal" thing so i don't think it's possible.
maybe it works with standard sites, but not protected. or am i wrong?

Ofcourse it works. This program (and other grab programs) are made to saving videos of platforms. On the most platforms you must have a subscription to get access to the videos. Paid or non-paid subscriptions. Then it is, still for now, a legal way to download streams because this is separate from the DMCA law, it cannot be prohibited. Downloading streams without having access to the source is prohibited. Attention: only to use the videos for private purposes. This also applies to this software, TVdownloader. Here you actually have to log in first before you can save the video.
