I used to work with 'https://mediazone.vrt.be/api/v1/een/assets/' before the videoid but that equally seems not to be working consistently since I upgraded to version v1.19a of TV Downloader... maybe I shouldn't have done that
Just tried this last approach with something like fc de kampioenen and that worked fine, but when I tried the following url it wouldn't download - the video id came from this url:

Latest TVdownloader v1.19a works now fine again for youtube but is indeed blocked for vrt.nu due to 'age limitation' - though my profile contains the right age to allow me watching 16+ stuff...

I'm still using the v1.19 and have the same problem since a few weeks. I think it has something to do with VRT and not TVDownloader.

I liked this method because it skipped the commercials at the beginning of each episode.
Other ways still work though, but with commercials at the beginning.

indeed, the newer videos at vrt.nu now have the following link structure for mpd files:
https://remix-cf.lwc.vrtcdn.be/remix/fb8ea11e-b249-4a65-ac0c-14d3973ae262/remix.ism/.mpd

Older ones had the following structure:
https://ondemand-cf.lwc.vrtcdn.be/content/vod/vid-dis-adfb5961-8b88-4109-873b-1f5e4e20...041ea.ism/.mpd

This seems to lead to the problem of downloading them.
XPloRR... would be good if you could please fix this for TVDownloader... !

Doesn't work for me, gives black screen due to DRM.

I just fill in the url https://www.vrt.be/vrtnu/a-z/cheetah-family-and-me/1/cheetah-family-and-me-s1a2/ in TVDownloader with user & pass and it works fine (with commercials though).

but i got a file with 0 kb size.

KID is inside mpd.
key is server response when you play video.
and key is necessary to decrypt your video.

if work fine TVDownloader i don't understand your post above (#696)...

The https://mediazone.vrt.be/api/v1/een/assets/ method doesn't work anymore for all video, some do, some don't.

First advantage of that method was the commercials at the beginning of the program were skipped automaticly when downloading. So you just end up with the program itself in the file, not 1 file with commercials+program combined together.
Second advantage was you could download (and so secretly preview) every program in advance that way (as long as the VRT put it ready on the website to go online at a certain date ofcourse).

With the normal download method (just enter the full url in TVDownloader with user and pass of the VRT website) those 2 advantages are gone.

Not that much of a problem, but it was nice to have.

So basically you need to a find a way to automatically get all the base 64 responses, then find a way to batch convert them to a file, then find a way probably with Subtitle Edit to combine them.

I have tested this with a few programs/episodes but cannot be certain it will work with every program or that these will keep working in the future. Especially because this mediazone url is the old way and VRT might discontinue its use any moment without notice.

Well, there you have it: this solution stopped working --- as you feared it would at some moment in the near future.
E.g. the following recent episode

Well if u have read carefully u will notice that if its not a internatonal program that suggestion wont work its very easy search .mpd url and u will get the video url very very simple example >> mpd link >> https://remix-cf.lwc.vrtcdn.be/remix/27b75e17-54b8-4c49-981a-172d035decb7/remix.ism/.mpd u can also change the last part after / to .m3u8 and u will get the m3u8 url example >>> https://remix-cf.lwc.vrtcdn.be/remix/27b75e17-54b8-4c49-981a-172d035decb7/remix.ism/.m3u8 also posting here about the broken youtube-dl extractor wont help since videodownloadhelper has nothing to do with youtube-dl if u want a program that works perfect with vrt nu i sugggest to use allavsoft paid software but if u google a bit u can stumble up on free giveaways for it goodluck!

My problem: tried to find this mpd-url (via CTRL-U/CTRL-F or via de CTRL-SHFT-I methods) but none of these recognized or found a mpd reference.
Also tried to put the video-id of the fifth episode in your url example of the fourth episode but that didn't seem to work either.
Not sure how you found that mpd-url, would like to understand the general approach - as the FC Kampioenen was just an example
I learn here a lot, but I'm not a specialist at all, any advise on this would be much appreciated, thanks !

And fyi: the .dash approach also worked on some non-international examples, but not with e.g. FC DK. Also the video-id approach no longer worked/works.

no wonder you cant find it thats not the way you dont ctrl u or ctrl f you need to look in developers console then go to network and search for mpd if it doesnt show up refresh the page and hit click play on the video copy the mpd link and paste it in tvdownloader same for subs search for textsteam you will see this >> textstream_dut=1000.dash replace .dash to .vtt and open that link in a new tab right click somewhere on the page and click save as and you never input the video id in a mpd or m3u8 link and the video id approach wont work anymore while the mpd or m3u8 link approach will always work
