  1. hi, i've been trying yo use youtube-dl on mac but, in terminal, it always says "sudo: wget: command not found" can anyone help?

    The youtube-dl page only mentions wget in “To check the signature”. Thus, it is a kind of security, but strictly not needed for a functioning youtube-dl.

    wget is not part of a default install of macOS. It is part of the Xcode Command Line Tools. If you want wget, you do not need the full Xcode. Just the command line tools will do. You can download those separately (.dmg) [1] or use Terminal to get a prompt to install them directly [2].

    I installed and tried youtube-dl. Without specifying any options, it downloaded (for my chosen URL) 4K .webm (VP9) and .m4a (AAC), then muxed those into an .mkv , playable with VLC.
