I am searching for the world's simplest video editor -- all I want it to do is make it easy for me to extract short clips from a long video.

I take underwater videos, and on a given dive I might end up with a long video with four seconds of an octopus changing color and eight seconds of a moray eel swimming in the open. What I want to do is take the long video, mark the start and end of the octopus, save those four seconds into a file "octopus changing color," and then do the same for the moray eel segment. Then I would typically delete the long video.

I have used KotyoteSoft's "Free Video Converter" to do this in the past, but it's no longer available. So does anybody have a recommendation for an editor that makes it easy to do my specific job? I am more than willing to pay for such a product, although it seems the more you pay for a video editor the more it blathers on about alternate timelines and picture-in-picture and corrective filters and special effects and... It's not that I don't want to learn complicated features, it's that I really don't want them. My subjects must be just what they are, and I'm quite content with that.

Thanks for any and all suggestions. Appreciated.
