  2. You can do both in Virtualdub.

  3. Here's how i do it. First I open the avi with virturaldub. You need to check the file information, like I have an avi in Divx mpeg 4 low motion. Goto video, and goto "full processing mode". now goto Compression and use the same codec, (divx mpeg 4 low motion, or whatever codec the avi is in.) now drag the bar to where you want the movie to be splited. on the bottom right it will show the frame and time, remember the frame, like if you moved it to frame 16545. Now goto video and "select range". start offset is where you want to begin (0 is from the begining). and where it says "length", you will see time(ms) and frames, Put the frame you want to cut it, I.E. 16545. leave "end offset" alone. Now click ok. and save .avi

to join two avi's. I also use Virturaldub for that. You can only join an avi file, if the first file is larger then the second avi. Also, the avi must have the same compression and audio. So you might have to convert one of your avi. Anyways, you open the first avi you want, then you goto file "append video segment, and choose the file you want to join. Oh and you know what I do when the first file is smaller then the second one? you can either join the first file with another avi, to make it bigger then join it with the second one, then split it again. OR you can split the second avi to make it smaller, join the first two, the join the 3rd one

  4. oh yea, theres also a program called avichop. That program is eazy, but it's hard to know what position your chopping, because you have to choose the "MB" of the avi, instead of like time or frame. but its simple if you want to try it
