I'm not sure how to explain this but when I export this project in sony vegas it comes out with weird, almost like a glitch bars. it looks fine in the preview but it shows up when I render it. I'll attach images. I am very confused on what this is because it only appears sometimes and it is unnoticeable at other times. Thanks!

(Make sure to look at the pictures full screen because the thumbnails make it look like a motion blur.)

  2. it is interlace related,
do you have in Vegas Properties window set de-interlace to interpolate (or blend)?
Did you downresized video? It looks like it.

First Vegas has to interpret footage that you load into correctly, you check that out in clip properties (right click event on timeline/properties), if not, correct it there or within pan/crop.
But most likely Vegas interpreted footage alright.

Check those Vegas properties and deinterlace method.

While exporting make sure you set upper field first as well, as your original HD video is (most likely), to make sure.

I looked at the de-interlacing method, its interpolate. The video is not downsized, I have masked cinematic bars to make it look more "Filmy" or widescreen (Just adding a layer above the video). I'm not sure what you wanted me to look at in properties (Picture Below) but as I said the video was not downsized. I tried the option in properties called "Reduce Interlace Flicker" and it seemed to help a little but the effect is still very visible.

  4. Since your HD source is interlaced it must be 1920x1080. The images you posted are 1280x720 -- so there is some scaling going on somewhere. The video isn't being recognized as interlaced, isn't being deinterlaced for display, and is being scaled incorrectly.

I don't use Vegas but I think the problem is that Vega doesn't recognize your source video is interlaced so it's not deinterlacing it for you (even if your project settings are progressive). You need to right click on the video in the timeline or assets window and select the source properties (not sure exactly what Vegas calls it), then tell Vegas the video is interlaced.

The images posted were from just using the Microsoft snipping tool and they weren't actual frames from the video so the snipping tool probably changed them to 1280x720 thanks for the response ill check it out!

This might be a dumb question but I'm not exactly sure how to tell vegas the video is interlaced. I've looked thoroughly through the properties and I don't see anything about interlacing

  7. Your Vegas knows that it is interlaced, that is not an issue, it says in media properties, your last posted image, it says interlaced upper field first 1920x1080.

What is export resolution? Is it set to upper field first as well if there is 1920x1080 export? I'd perhaps make sure that field order is set to upper field first, definitely not set to none.

If still a problem, you can make black bar with pan/crop effect, instead of some mask. Or make sure the height of black bar is even number, but that should not be an issue, just a test, if everything fails.

I'm not sure why but while I was playing around with the render settings it fixed itself when I put it on None (progressive-scan)
    Thanks For your help!

  9. So your video is progressive and Vegas detected it as interlace, wow.

I better changed that field order to none as well even in media properties, not just export, so it does not deinterlace (even if really progressive footage)

    check this out:
    https://community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/Interlaced-or-progressive/td-p/2400
Vegas can detect GoPro as interlaced even if it is not.
