  1. Hello,

I suddenly discovered something I had been looking for -- for a long time -- to save extra features on a DVD.

While exploring a movie DVD in PgcEdit, I found a 'video' (most likely a slideshow with music playing in background).

The PGC panels shows it as:

    VTSM 4, LU1 (en), 10 (2:03) 4b.

Must say, I don't understand this PgcEdit stuff.

Now, the big question – how to save it as a video or slideshow with music?

    Will be thankful for suggestions.

See if the DVD opens with DVDDecrypter first....MUCH easier than PgcEdit.

  3. Thanks for the reply.

It doesn't work on ripped to hard disk DVD folders.

    Is there a workaround?

pgcdemux if you want to make your own stuff later (reauthor), or for a canned package I second DVDShrink, but if you run DVDShrink in reauthor mode, you should run PGCEdit on it afterwards before burning. PGCEdit will find an error DVDShrink makes when using reauthor mode.

  6. Thanks.

    DVDShrink shows the items.
    It is VTS 4.

How do I save as video or slideshow file – not DVD?
    There is no option!

    Reauthor.
Drag it over to the left pane.
Output as DVD. It will probably be one, small VOB file.....almost as good as a straight MPG2 file.

Remember, after you re-author in DVDShrink run the output through PGCEdit

    Not necessary.

    Thanks.

But why is it necessary because I got the video I wanted?

    Exactly.....NOT necessary.

  13. It's necessary only if you make a compilation of many (small) titles on a single DVD with DVDShrink. In that case, DVDShrink has a huge bug and the DVD cannot work correctly. For a single title, it should have no problem.

I've had it come up with single titles before. In any case, I always have pgcedit check it. It only takes a second, so why not if you are going to through the effort to do all this anyway?

  16. Thanks.

I find PgcEdit too intimidating. So, I followed @hech54's suggestion. And 'Re-authored' the DVD with all images but I was unable to add any audio track for background music.

Playing the 'new' DVD wasn't fun, every picture just flashed and was gone in seconds!

Then, using MKVMerge, I appended** all images (that were in VOB format), but, MKVMerge won't budge ('No Video detected').

So, I added a favorite music AC3 as audio track, the MKVMerge came into action. But, the images didn't appear slow enough to read the text therein. To correct that I set FPS value to 1/5 in Format specific options for video track and clicked 'Start muxing'.

All went fine and I got what I wanted.

Note: Everything I did above I learned in this Forum.

I have posted what I did and not how-to-do-it kind of thing. I don't even know if this is the right way!

    Thank you all.

** Clarification: I selected the first VOB with image, MKVMerge selected all VOBs on its own. I did not use 'Append' button.
