  1. I use Dxtory to record video games and I need audio codec to be able to record 5.1 audio, but pretty much all codecs I have(AC3ACM, Lame MP3, PCM, etc.) allow me to record only stereo. I can record 5.1 audio using IEEE Float but it's like ~8GB per 1 hour of recording. For example, when I use Lame MP3, it's only ~800 MB per 1 hour of recording(sure, it's only 2 channels against 6, but still).

Recommend some audio codec I can use to record 5.1 audio, please.

    Even AC3-ACM only stereo?

Yes, unfortunately even AC3-ACM allows me to record only in stereo mode(it downmix to stereo):

I can't find any working ACM versions of AAC, though . I tried to install AAC-ACM, but it doesn't appear in the list of Dxtory, because I need encoder, when atm it can only decode...

From the looks of things the program uses VFW codecs...

I think VirtualDub uses the same API...

According to my Virtualdub, of the audio codecs I have installed, AC-3 and DTS can be encoded into 5.1.

As far as I'm aware, all I have installed is this:

Although there may be another program on my system that put them there.

When I installed AC3-ACM manually, it showed on Dxtory after restarting it:

Yes, it can, because standards themselves allows you to, right?

I have installed this Advanced Codecs software, but nothing changed on my Dxtory list of audio codecs:

Too sad that true surround sound is so uncommon, so it's so hard to find proper codec...

Is there some kind of mega-pack of ACM/DirectShow/VFW codecs or whatever?

The list of codecs VirtualDub is showing me is almost identical to the list in your image, except mine has DTS and AC-3 added.

I honestly have no idea where they came from, it could have come from anywhere, I can only hope someone on the forum can tell you (assuming they'd be compatible with your program anyway).

Have you tried restarting the PC... it may be a waste of time but it's all I can think of.

You could try downloading VirtualDub to see what's it puts in your audio codec list, just to find out if I'm off the mark here.
