  1. I just downloaded VSDC after spending the last week looking for an editor that would crop video. VSDC is great. Is there a way to time stretch the video portion of a project so that I can sync it with an audio portion. Also, I reduced the audio part of the video file so that a separate audio file would be the sound. But is there a way to separate the video and audio parts of the mp4 video file so that I can delete the original audio and then merge the time stretched remaining video part with the separate mp3 audio.

  2. The easiest solution is to use an NLE that has time stretching built in. For instance in my NLE, Sony Vegas Pro, I can stretch the video to speed it up or slow it down, and the audio is stretched by the same amount by that same operation. I can then choose to either let the pitch change (chimpmunk music, if I speed it up), or use a pitch corrector that keeps the pitch the same, and only changes the pace of the audio.

Most audio editing programs will do these operations as well, but doing the work outside an NLE involves dozens of extra steps, and it isn't always straightforward to get everything back in sync.
