    @OP: You typically cannot simply copy DVR/PVR files onto a PC and play them. Most DVR/PVR units use some sort of encryption on all files stored on the unit and may also include DRM depending on the source. The only way to get files onto the PC (as hinted at above), is to connect the audio/video output of the DVR/PVR to a capture device on the computer. Then play the files on the DVR/PVR and record (in real time) on the computer.
