    Hi.

I used to download videos from www.dailymotion.com through a software, Freemake.

However I used it after quite some time yesterday and it was not downloading from that site. Message just says to 'play the video in the browser' and no option for download.

Can it not download videos from Daily Motion any more? Please advise.

    Many thanks.

    Thanks for the reply.
Can you please suggest some Freeware also as this one is not.
Also, I liked Freemake very much. Any idea why its not downloading from Dailymotion anymore? I have Freemake 8.0 version.

    Thanks and regards.

Can I assume you mean you have Freemake 3.8.0? There is no 8.0 version.

I had never before tried to use Freemake to download from DailyMotion - I only use it for YouTube, but I just now tried a video from DailyMotion, and it worked just fine (I also have version 3.8.0). If it's not working for you, you may have a firewall issue where Freemake is being blocked.

Just downloaded 36 videos from DailyMotion using Freemake, and finally came to one that wouldn't work. Freemake says "No downloadable video", even if I have the video playing in the browser at the time.

Tried the same video using Free Download Manager, and it worked just fine. I don't know if version 5.1 will do it. I'm using version 3.9.7 because I don't like the way they completely redid everything in version 5.1. The only caveat is that with FDM you do have to have the video playing - in the resolution (SD, HD, etc.) you want to download - in Internet Explorer (it doesn't like Google Chrome for some reason). So I had to wait until all the advertisements were finished and the music video actually started before I could download it. FDM will give you the option to download every video on the page, including any ads, so you have to either pick the right one, or download them all and then delete the ones you didn't want.

    Pro:
    • Worked when Freemake wouldn't.
    Cons:
    • You don't get the handy list of all available download resolutions like Freemake does.
    • You have to have the video playing in the resolution you want.
    • FDM occasionally gives a couple error messages - either "Could not find any information about the webpage" or "Could not find any flash videos on the page" - and you may have to reload the page once or twice before it will work.

  5. awgie,
If you want to experiment (and help me out), I have two videos here. I'm not interested in the videos, but I would like to know what software (free or pay) can download them.
    1) https://videos.sproutvideo.com/embed/e89bd0b81b1fe3ca60/851a807530288779?signature=3Rv...813143&type=hd

    2) https://www.tennistv.com/videos/shanghai-2016-hot-shot-countdown

I can tell you that the latest trial version of Tubedigger ($25 to download all of video, free to download half the video) will download both of the above videos. I am beginning to think that Tubedigger is the ONE software that has a much higher download success rate than any other software.
The second video was also downloaded with livestreamer (free), however it required a special technique with livestreamer that the average person would not be able to do without external assistance. Link to that thread:

It sounds like you've already found the software that can do it. If you had the page that the first video was actually embedded on, Free Download Manager might be able to do it, but without that address, I can't check it. FDM simply says "There were no flash videos found on this page." whether I have the video playing or not. For the second one, if I have the video playing on screen, it does find two very small files, but neither of them turns out to be a video clip. Freemake won't touch either one.

I guess if I were going to be downloading any number of videos such as these, I would go ahead and pay the $25 for TubeDigger.

    Sorry, yes its 3.8 version.
I am posting some screenshots for your review please.

    Screenshot 1 :
When I right click on the play screen in Dailymotion, it says 'Copy Video Address'. The address that is copied is not completely correct, as below :
    blob:http://www.dailymotion.com/2ed93260-a836-4018-ac07-d7e4b3e43032
So I just remove the prefix 'blob' and the URL seems alright.

    Screenshot 2 :
When I paste it in Freemake, it doesn't say that there is no downloadable video; rather, it says 'Play the video in the browser'.
What does that mean and where is the download option?

    Thanks to all for help.

The address you have copied is the address of the video file itself. Freemake needs the address of the page on DailyMotion (circled below). Note you'll have to rename the video, since every page on their site is simply titled "What to Watch" instead of the title of the actual video, and Freemake uses the page title for the file name.

  9. Just downloaded 36 videos from DailyMotion using Freemake, and finally came to one that wouldn't work.
I used youtube-dl on two random DailyMotion videos, including the one you said was difficult:
    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2hal39_ariana-grande-one-last-time-official_music
and didn't have any problem. All the resolutions are given and then can choose.
youtube-dl template to give available resolutions:
youtube-dl -F http of dailymotion here
    example:
    Code:
    youtube-dl -F http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2hal39_ariana-grande-one-last-time-official_music
    youtube-dl template to download video:
youtube-dl -f resolution here http of dailymotion here
    example:
    Code:
    youtube-dl -f http-amazon-Med http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2hal39_ariana-grande-one-last-time-official_music
Screenshot that shows resolution that I used (first white circle, http-amazon-Med) and final command that includes chosen resolution (second white circle). Downloaded video is in youtube-dl folder.

    Hi.
Just wanted to say a big thanks to both of you for the wonderful advice to download from Daily Motion. I was not using Freemake properly and didnt know it was so easy.
In fact now I have two options for downloading so that's great, although I have not yet installed Youtube-dl.

Please also share your opinion about how can I get the video link of video on below page. Cant get it through 'right click'.
    http://vidpk.com/63269/Drama-Serial-Middle-Class-on-Express-Tv-Episode-5a/
And Freemake doesn't seem to download it. Not sure about Youtube-dl.

    Many thanks for your help.

    youtube-dl works fine.
    template to get available resolutions:
    youtube-dl -F url of video
Code to paste into command line:
    Code:
    youtube-dl -F http://vidpk.com/63269/Drama-Serial-Middle-Class-on-Express-Tv-Episode-5a/
    Only one resolution given:
    0
    template to download video
youtube-dl -f resolution url of video
Code to paste into command line to download video:
    Code:
    youtube-dl -f 0 http://vidpk.com/63269/Drama-Serial-Middle-Class-on-Express-Tv-Episode-5a/
Screenshot white circles shows the 2 codes that you paste in the command line. Red circle shows available resolution (0).
    Downloaded video in youtube-dl folder.

    to download the video.

    Hi.

Thanks very much for highlighting the use of youtube-dl. Although DOS based, it seems to possess powerful, wide ranging functionality and probably can download from many online video hosting sites. And Freemake is also a nice one to have, although limited to Daily Motion, but with a very friendly GUI.

    Regards.

Although Freemake is limited, it is not limited to just DailyMotion. I use it mainly for YouTube myself, but it can download from several different sites.

    Hi all.

I downloaded and installed Freemake after quite some time due to a PC format. The new version 3.8.0 does not let me download any video above 3 minutes duration. Its asking me to upgrade to premium for 19$.

Is this software not freeware anymore? Any other equally nice option that is still Freeware?

    Regards to all.

Actually I am referring to the Freemake Video Downloader, not the Video Converter.
    Thanks.

What version exactly are you using (Help > About)? I am using ver. 3.8.0.21 and have no trouble downloading videos of any length. And I went into the options and unchecked "Show Popups" and it no longer pesters me about upgrading to the paid "gold" version (but all you have to do is close the popup to get past it). According to their website, the software is still free and fully functional, although you can purchase upgrade "packs" that "extend the basic functionality".

  19. Hi seymoria ,

For DL , you could use "streamlink" ( or livestreamer not updated ) for dailymotion's site .

    Cheers .
