VLC PLAYER>media>convert/save>add movie file>use subtitle file> when I add the subtitles and go thru the process the subtitles are not in the movie.
After clicking add subtitles what other steps do I need to follow?

Are you selecting the little tool thingy box on the 'convert' window and setting it there?

Yes, you add the video and the subs on that screen and click Convert/Save and the next screen lets you click the toolbox icon.

On the subsequent page you select the subtitles tab and verify that overlay is checked.

If after all that you still dont get the subs and you insist on using VLC, you have to start at the beginning and instead of using 'Media' > 'Convert...' use 'Media' > 'Stream' and go the advanced way which is a pain.

On your pic, after you add the files, click 'Convert/Save' and it takes you to the screen I posted.
