  1. It's a shot in the dark but let's try: my Onkyo AV receiver doesn't support ARC. Does some intermediary device exist? Now I have an optical cable running from the TV to the AV reciever, but I'd rather use a single HDMI cable to simply things: I'll buying a media box soon and want to use as little as possible cables.

    The media box will (likely) need an audio feed directly to the Receiver. Routing through the TV will typically cause an audio delay/lip sync issue.

    And I've not seen a device to implement ARC, but that would introduce even more cables (ie: HDMI (from the TV) to the device and then HDMI and audio cables from the device to the Receiver).
