This same guy supposedly broke K8 benchmarks months ahead of that release, they paint an interesting picture of AMD's upcoming 8C/16T cpu. My take is that AMD is probably focusing the HPC market, which is very lucrative and profitable and the associated workloads are well threaded and benefit greatly from high core counts.

The long and short of it is, if true, that Ryzen is slightly slower than a 6900k and faster than a 6800k but what is likely to disappoint many is that in gaming benchmarks it performs on par with an i5 6600, though power consumption is great for an AMD cpu.

I don't know how much stock to put in these results, as the video we have been shown of Ryzen shows it in a much better light, especially in terms of multi-tasking, pricing will be key here, the prices quoted in this article do not make me want to go out and buy one, if the 8C/16T part is a sub $300 cpu, then I can be talked into buying one.
