  1. i'm tryin to convert an avi file to asf using windows media encoder 4. I

    am following the guide on "HOW TO CONVERT AVI TO ASF" here on this

    website http://www.vcdhelp.com/toasf/index.htm .BUT right after I put

    the output file name and click finish..... , I get an error message sayin

    "Video Compressor Failed start request" . I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS

    IS!

    CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT! please respond back. thank you!

  2. I use to make asf files a while ago, But just now I tried to make it again with that guide, and for some reason I can't. Anyways, i think i know your problem, There's something wrong with your codec. Did you choose "Microcrap Mpeg-4 Video Codec V3"? for some reason, I don't have that codec anymore, and I get the same error as yours when I try to use a differnet Codec.

  3. well i fixed my problem. First I had to install this SMR setup thing, and it prompts me that i have another version of Microcrap Mpeg-4 Video Codec V3, and if i want to overwrite it, well i did. But now i had a problem with the audio codec, it shows the mpeg layer 3, but it doesnt show the "56kbits/ 24,000" it just had 24,000 so i had to open my nimopack and installed the "mpeg layer 3 audio codec". then it worked. So i think your problem is the codecs, you might have to install differnet ones

  4. thanks for the info, can you gimme a website where i can get the codec from? i need to download the codec. do i get it from divx.com? please gimme a like. thanks again. or tell me what i need to do. thanks

  5. well, I had the files in my computer, I don't where to find them online. but you heard of smr? it was that, I installed something that said smrversion update. And for the audio, i had the "nimo pack" it has a lot of codecs, and i installed the mpeg layer 3 audio codec
