i am using a script to rip+upscale anime from the dvd and its very slow
i want to know what would be the differnce if i set it to do only 1 pass instead of 2 (it takes 2 times the time...)
also i am doing it with x265...
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Bit distribution is less optimal in single pass average bitrate mode. Will you notice a difference? Maybe, maybe not. Only you can decide. Test it.
Tips:
A) use --crf instead of --pass/--bitrate or
B) activate --no-slow-firstpass
If the script is extremely slow than it can make sense to first do a single pass encode with a lossless or near-lossless codec intemediate and encode that using x265 2pass.
