  1. I have an xvid video file in mkv.
i've created chapters for this and muxed it into mkv.
i played this file with mpc-hc and i find that all the chapters are fine..(re re rechecked)
but when i try to split the file according to chapters with mkvtoolnix then the splitted output have 1 or 2 seconds difference.

    why this is happening?
and also pls suggest a good splitter.!

    Thank u very much. !

  2. mkvtoolnix can only cut on keyframes. It's cutting at the nearest keyframes to the chapter points you set.

Editors that don't reencode can only cut on keyframes. This is an issue for players too. DVDs for example always have chapter points set on keyframes. There are very few non-reencoding editors that can cut on non-keyframes, and even those must reencode the cut GOPs. VideoRedo is such an editor but I don't know if it has an automatic cut-by-chapters option.
