A 'spoof' version of the famous (well - famous here in the UK) annual John Lewis Christmas ad. has gone viral. A 85 second animation by a media student has taken off big time here in the UK.
The lad who created it is based at the university near my home town... and some of the comments in our local press question whether he could have done it within 2 weeks - and on his own?...
The clip is here: https://youtu.be/_kuNB-exddM
What do you think he used to make it - After Effects?.....and is 1 one man, 2 week schedule a realistic option?.....
EDIT: I should have checked the comments on the original You Tube clip comments first....from the Q and A section:
"Q: What did you use to create this?
A: All of the modelling, animating, lighting and rendering were done in Cinema 4D. All of the compositing and even music were done in After Effects. The rendering was done using the Physical Renderer."
So that's how he did it... still quite impressive though - and it does seem to contain the 'magic' animation ingredient -- making you care about an inanimate object![]()
