Bombono - Dvd styler

I am trying to move some videos from VHS tapes to DVD so I can throw away the tapes. I have captured the videos and edited them down as much as possible. I also split them
into pieces so I can have menus on the DVD I'm trying to make and skip to the piece I want to watch or just "play all". I'm doing this on Linux Mint 17.3 (?) but can also use Windows 7 if need be. I finally got projects ready to burn with Bombono and DVD Styler.

Bombono gets avconv failure: exit code = 1 when I go to burn the DVD

Dvd Styler Crashes when I try to burn the project ( the window disappears then nothing else appears to be happening )

I got them both from the repository so you'd think they install any other packages needed. The video is a bit shaky when I play the captured mpg files on any of my computers
so I am also hoping there is some way to stabilize that in the final product. I would like to get Bombono and Styler to work first though. I'm sure I will have more questions later
since I'm New to video editing/authoring.

Never used Bombono but it appears it chrashes during re-encoding (avconv).

I've no idea where in the proces DVDStyler chrashes (re-encoding, authoring, burning) but the file dvdstyler.log could provide the info.

For both: Start by making an iso image or a DVD folder structure and test it in a software player.

I also split them into pieces so I can have menus

You could use chapters for that.

Bombono crashes with the same error when I try iso or folder. DVDStyler, the window just disappears, iso or folder just as before when I click start to begin the process.
I searched for dvdstyler.log but did not find it. I split them into separate mpg files 'cause I didn't know how to do chapters.

It should be in your "Temp directory" (if created at all)

It appears DVDStyler stop when creating menus.

You could try "Settings -> Core -> Untick Use mplex for menus".
