Hi everyone!
After some problems with avisynth and windows i decided to stay with Windows 8.1 64bits
On a clean instalation i installed Lavfilters so that i could ditch ffdshow and halli but scripts werent playing on mpc-hc (64) or virtualdub, i uninstalled lavfilters amd installed ffdshow64 + halli but no luck as before, tried the 32bit version of ffdshow but it still doesnt work. I used the prefered filter tweaker to setup ffdshow as a decoder but none of it worked.
ffdshow + halli used to work perfectly with windows (32bits), tried googling and searching but i only found a thread at doom9 (which i can no longer find) about some extra steps or UAC problems, cant remember....
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hi, this is what i done so far on windows 8.1 64bit:
1- avisynth+(64) + lavfilters (64) - no playback
2- avisynth+(64) + ffdshow tryouts (64) + halli spliter - no playback
3- avisynth+(64) + ffdshow tryouts (32) + halli spliter - no playback
3- avisynth 2.6 + ffdshow tryouts (32) + halli spliter - no playback
thanks for any helpLast edited by ricardouk; 31st Oct 2016 at 17:03.

"no playback" -- with what? 32 bit player? 64 bit player? And what does "no playback" mean? Do you get an error message? A black Video? Crash? And what source filter are you using in AviSynth? AviSource? DirectShowSource? ffmpegsource? LWLibAvVideoSource? And why don't you show the "bitness" of all the components you tried? For example LAV filters comes in both 32 and 64 bit versions. If you want to use 64 bit AviSynth with LAV filters you need to use 64 bit LAV and a 64 bit player. YOU CANNOT USE A MIX OF 64 BIT AND 32 BIT COMPONENTS.

all the situations i described above were with mpc-hc 64bit, no playback means that i tried avisource and directshowsource and mpc wouldnt play the script, it displayed a message saying that it couldnt render the file.
thats what i did, see what i wrote before, i tried de 64bit version of lavfilters

i reinstalled avs+ 64 and now it displays following message when playing a mp4 file through avisynth
http://pastebin.com/LWVaDaJPI love it when a plan comes together! -
The error message seems to indicate the software is trying to deal with the video but can't decode it. Are you sure you have an decoder for the file in question? What does MediaInfo say about your file?
Try a file which uses codecs you know you have installed: AVC in MP4, XVID in AVI, whatever, just to verify everything is working.
I think your video is Fraps, FPS1. ffdshow includes an FPS1 decoder but you may have to enable it.
By the way, I installed AviSynth 64 bit, ffdshow 64 bit, and MPCHC 64 bit on a Win8 64 bit system and had no problems playing various files via AviSource() and DirectShowSource().Last edited by jagabo; 31st Oct 2016 at 21:35.

it seems its a MPC HC issue, avisynth scripts now play with virtualdub, tried disabling the internal filters in MPC HC but no luck.

That looks like normal AVC video. The frame rate is low but that shouldn't be a problem.
AviSource() can't open MP4 files but DirectShowSource() can if you have a file reader/splitter for the container and the correct codecs for the audio and video installed. You can also use third party source filters like ffms2 and LSmash. Those can handle the MP4 container and AVC/ACC without relying on system installed filters.
Do all AVC videos display black or only this one? -
its a timelapse video
used an old mp4 video, black video with sound after error with mpc hc, with virtualdub filtermod video and sound ok

Add Info() to the end of your script. What does it say when you open the video?
And, just to be sure, MPCHC is playing videos normally, right?Last edited by jagabo; 1st Nov 2016 at 08:32.

Huh?
Use a simple script like:
Code:DirectShowSource("filename.mp4") Info()
Or an even simpler script, just:
Code:Version()

DirectShowSource () for open .mp4? I would not use
Process video + audio together in Avisynth? Never
The audio=true is the problem.
1) Demux audio track (Mp4box)
2) LSMASHVideoSource("C:\Program Files (x86)\MIS VIDEOS\ACODEO\01.mp4", track=1). Or (track=2) Only video open and process.
3) The final product is .avi? Previously converts the audio .aac to .mp3 or .ac3.
4) Remux video+audio.
5) Is All.Last edited by remanyao; 1st Nov 2016 at 10:13.

Thanks remanyao for your advice
I've always used it that way (directShow or aviSource) since i started using avisynth, never had problems before with audio and video together (trimming, joining, etc)
this is something else...
the combination of ffdshow+halli always worked for playing mp4 or avi through avisynth, didnt need to install anything else, i moved to 64bit because editing 4k in 32bit OS would cause memory errors, gimp for example would complain about not having enough memory.
Thats why i decided to use a 64bit OS and it works perfectly with gimp, virtualdub but avisynth isnt workingLast edited by ricardouk; 1st Nov 2016 at 11:00.

Yes.
I'm on Windows 7 (x86_64) platform and all my multimedia-tools are in Program Files_x86 and LAVFilters Pack 32 bit. Never more.
The rest in Program Files (x64).
I use Avisynth from WindowsXP and for me it is 32 bit. DirectShowSource () I never liked.
64 bit is a problem for developers. Still today. -
Thanks, hopefully someone might have had a similar situation and can help me.
what is "everyone" using these days on windows 8.1 64bit to make it work? everything 64 or a mix?
remanyao, have you tried 8.1 64bit before? not worth upgrading?I love it when a plan comes together! -

You got me confused (x86_64)? you're using windows 7 32bit on a machine with a 64bit processor?
my main problem is 4k lossless footage, when i used avisynth on 32 bit OS the conversion stoped after 1min, not enough memory (i have 8GB RAM), Gimp when stacking a lot of images would stop as well, on 64bit it flies through without problems, its just avisynth...I love it when a plan comes together! -

Thanks, ill wait for other users opinion, i might start using/learning how to use "graphical" NLE's and ditch avisynth, i tried Hitfilm express and its quite good except for the 1080p output limitation, theres the free Da vinci Resolve, shotcut and others getting better and better.
Thanks once againI love it when a plan comes together!
