Thanks for your help. But the instructions on that page did not work.
Here is what I typed in my terminal:
Code:luke@ExistenceUBUNTU:~$ sudo apt-get install dvgrab (Didn't do Kino 'cause I knew I already had it.) [sudo] password for luke: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done dvgrab is already the newest version (3.5-2). dvgrab set to manually installed. The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: geoclue-2.0 libgeoclue-2-0 libgsound0 linux-headers-4.4.0-36 linux-headers-4.4.0-36-generic linux-headers-4.4.0-38 linux-headers-4.4.0-38-generic linux-image-4.4.0-36-generic linux-image-4.4.0-38-generic linux-image-extra-4.4.0-36-generic linux-image-extra-4.4.0-38-generic Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. luke@ExistenceUBUNTU:~$ sudo ln /dev/fw0 /dev/raw1394 ln: failed to access '/dev/fw0': No such file or directory luke@ExistenceUBUNTU:~$ sudo chmod 664 /dev/raw1394 chmod: cannot access '/dev/raw1394': No such file or directory luke@ExistenceUBUNTU:~$

There aren't that many linux users here ... your thread is the newest thing on the Linux section of this board since August.
I do use mint, which is ubuntu based, but I don't know much about firewire capture and I don't use the Mint version that's 16.04 based. However, those instructions you got from that link from help.ubuntu is for 12.04. Backwards compatibility doesn't work in Linux like it does in Windoze. You can't try solutions from earlier or later releases and expect them to work.
You'd probably be better off at the Ubuntu support sites:

Using dvgrab to capture Digital Video
After you have installed dvgrab you should be able to capture by using the commandline. Simply go to your terminal and type in dvgrab, and ther you it, it is capturing in the current folder. If you want to specify the output, have a look at the dvgrab subpage
