I've got a TV that is nearly 20 years old (hey, it still works....). My problem is that every widescreen SVCD that I play on it gets 1"- 2" chopped off of either side, which does not occur when playing original DVDs. Has anyone ever encountered this before?

My tv does that all the time, those banners on channels like CNN that scroll on the bottom of the screen always are hard to see. I havent found a way to correct this yet either, sorry.
Mine is like a 1985 model. -
I don't think I have a problem with ordinary TV images....I don' t get cable, so I can't verify that, but I don't recall ever noticing this before. What I'm trying to determine is whether or not my problem is the result of my encoding process or perhaps even my DVD player.

My 1985 TV does the same thing. However, my new TV does not.
