  1. Hi esteemed mates,

Because DVD Shrink would not rip my DVD, I installed and applied DVDfab which ripped the DVD into 3 large ISO files.

I then tried to burn a DVD of those ISO files all in the same folder using Ashampoo.

I get the message from AShampoo to insert a Double Layer DVD+ blank disc.

All I have are blank DVD-R single layer discs.

Is there some way or software which will take all the files ripped by dvdfab and burn them to a single layer DVD-R?

Thanks so much fr your help.

Re rip the disc with dvdfab, once done, open dvd shrink
To shrink the file, once that is done hit backup and select iso
Once encoding is done just burn the iso to dvd -r using imgburn.

    Three iso files
    Something is wrong
    Should have got one
Rip the disc to a DVD folder not an ISO
It should be less than 8 gig
Anything larger than that means dFab is not decrypting correctly and you are getting false multiple copies
Which is one form of copy protection
In this case you need to use dFab to rip only the the main movie
Then author a new DVD with something like avi2dvd

  4. Hi october262,

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I ripped the DVD using dvdfab which produced 7-8 large .VOB files and other smaller .VOB files on to my hard drive.

I did not then use dvdshrink as I thought I could then just burn a DVD with Ashampoo.

I can try your suggestions and shrink the file with dvdshrink and then once that's done hit backup and select iso.

Once the ISO file(s) are created by dvdshrink try to burn with ImgBurn which I've now downloaded.

Thank you again for all your help.

  5. Hi thewizard,

Thank you for all the troubleshooting.

As an admitted newbie, I'm a tad lost at your suggestions of ..." Rip the disc to a DVD folder not an ISO."

How does one rip the disc to a DVD folder instead of an ISO?

Is there some setting in dvdfab for that?

There's actually three (3) separate programs on the original DVD, not just one movie.

My apologies if I wasn't clear about that originally.

Thank you for all your kind help.

  6. Hi october,

    Your suggestions worked perfectly!

    Thank you so very much.

I wondered if you or others on this thread might have a favorite DVD label creation program for printing labels to blank DVDs?

Also, I noticed when i ran dvdfab it stated my trial version expired.

Is there a freeware version of dvdfab that I missed?

Thank you ALL for all your much appreciated brainstorming, suggestions and kind help.

  7. Hi mates,

A while back dvdshrink version 3.2 would rip modern DVDs.

So would dvdfab version 8.2.3.0 but now neither will.

They both get caught in that “Not Responding” mode.

Are there any free dvd ripping software alternatives others have used to rip a DVD in the past year or so?

    Thank you.
