Afternoon all,
New here so thought it only common courtesy to say Hi !!
I'll admit i'm absolutely clueless about most things to do with this forum (hence joining !) and do have a particular subject i'm looking for help with.
Not one of those to have not tried myself first - but I seem to have exhausted all angles within my capabilities.
I've posted my topic in the relevant area - thanks in advance for any help !
Neil

From https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/72386-Forum-rules-Acceptable-Use-Policy-%28AUP%29?
Try to choose a subject that describes your topic.
Please do not use topic subjects like Help me!!! or Problems. -
Just saying "hi"? I don't think so. This is an attempt to draw attention to the other post. Not really OK. Creating multiple posts asking for help with the same problem is against the forum rules, so don't be surprised if a moderator becomes involved if you continue doing this.
If someone sees your request and can help you they will. If you don't get an answer, you can bump your original post after a few days by posting again in that thread. -
Well.....what can I say - you're a right friendly sort eh ?!
Excuse me for having some manners - i'm Scottish and it's taught to us at an early age.
I'm a member of quite a few forums for various things - and they all (as does this one !!) invite you to post in the 'Newbie' section to intro yourself and say 'hi'
In no way was I trying to 'draw attention' to any other post - like I said - just common courtesy. If any moderator wants to question me on that - i'll tell them exactly the same.
Incidentally - your remark about 'bumping' - i'm sure it says in the forum rules NOT to do this....you may want to reference them yourself.
In the meantime - i'll thank you to live by your username if you've nothing nice/constructive to add to my future posts.
Hopefully the rest of the forum is friendlier than you have proved to be.
Have a nice day. -

This is a help forum not a chat forum so while you can certainly introduce yourself here, nobody really minds if that isn't done, especially when you introduce yourself in your question.
As I recall, Scots are taught to be honest from an early age as well. So tell me, if you did not mean to draw attention to your other post, what other purpose is served by mentioning it in your introduction?
Actually, you are allowed to bump your post after a few days, although doing so immediately is discouraged. The mods often mention waiting to bump a post when dealing with someone who repeatedly bumps their post every few hours.
