PLZ help a newbe plz

ok heres the story. i have a couple of movies and i they are in some kind of format right now. i think either divx or avi. one of the movies is titled [km]van.wild.ts.[1of2]. the file size is 246mb about and i want to convert it into a vcd to watch it on my computer. i want to do this for the obvious quality issue. i am sort of a quality freak. anyways i read the how to at vcdhelp.com and i used tmpgenc. first i ripped the audio with virtual dub so i got the audio file. then i loaded up tmpg and setup like they said. i used the highest quality setting as well. i made sure to follow the steps exactly given. well an hour later my movie was encoded and the problem is the quality has not changed!!! why is this. the new file size is now 456mb so why isnt the quality way better? plz help me out guys thx.

PS. its not just this movie. i tried with another one and the same thing happened

Oh my friend weren't we all there once!! boy are you confused just like I was. First off you get what you get. I actually down loaded the same file your talking about its a camera job(ts=taped screen) you can't make it any better(that version -KM-is the best I've seen for this particular movie) .anyways the reason the file got bigger is beacause you converted to mpeg now you can burn it to a cd-r so you can watch it on you dvd player.Just to let you know you can just download mpeg if you like here's a hint (km)VanWilder(MPEG-ED)VCD1.mpg this guy did all the work for you. what p2p are you using?Also I hope (KM) keeps it up he did a better job than some others like (TMD) and (SMR). i have tried to convert avi to mepg to make a VCD using lsx encoder, temgenc 2.53 and panasonic 2.5 encoder.

the conversion goes okay but when i play the mpeg file in real player i get only the audio no video. how can i fix this? :( ? :( ? i used the instructions from the vcdhelp.com website for each encoder. :-?

how should i convert the avi to mpeg . if any one tells me heres my email :D aguz86@yahoo.com to send the instructions or or just reply back on the post :D

i know that vcd easy converts the mpeg to cue how will i burn the bin /cue files into a vcd format (CDRDAO) is not supported by my burner SONY CRX175E

I'm just curious...if you are going to watch the movie on your computer, why bother converting it at all?? why not just watch the avi as/is and save converting time and quality loss?

FANTOMLORD, You know when I saw your comment I said WHAT? but then I read the original post again and noticed he did say computer not dvd player. I never noticed that when I posted a few days ago.However BLACKANDRED_111 and I have been talking and that was a mistake. He really does want to make a vcd for a dvd player. At least thats what I thought-Now you've got me wondering. BLACKANDRED-111 are you only going to play this movie on your computer?You cam send me a private message to my inbox if you would like.

so heres tha deal.....i want to make a vcd so that i can watch it on my home dvd player

!) i convereted avi to a mpeg using the guide on this website

2) i played in media player to check if the file worked after convertying it from avi

3) only the AUDIO worked not tha video ???

can anyone please help me and tell me whats wrong
