I am trying to use a avisynth script that requires something called syrestore, but I have no idea how to download that function and make it work, trying to download an .avsi file just directs my Web browser to a page with a bunch of jargon in it and even if I could download it I don't know what folder to put it in to make it work

Instead of left-clicking the .asvi link, you need to right-click it and select 'save link as...' and save the .asvi file. It goes in your avisynth/plugins folder. It looks like you'll also need, at a minimum, the MaskTools2 plugin. Just extract the contents of the .zip file to your avisynth/plugins folder.

That 'jargon' is the SRestore function. You can copy it first followed by pasting it into a text file renamed as SRestore.avsi. Your way works, but I usually do it as I described.
