Well, this is a new one. I've been using TMPG since 12.a and out of the blue, TMPG just refuses to lauch in WinXP.
What would happen is the TMPG would briefly flash on the Taskbar and then disappear. If I'm lucky, the computer is still usable, if not, then the how system freezes and stopped working.
My only hints as to what's happening is there were a few time where it said there was a problem with ntdll.dll
Suggestion anyone?

OK, I think I've found the problem.
When I tried to load up a divx 4.0 or divx 5.0 file, I get the following error message (provided the whole system does not lock up):
Write error occurred at 77F52CD0 of module ntdll.dll with 0000C500
follow by
Read error occurred at 00403496 of module TMPGenc.exe with 00000000
Now, I'm able to do a MPG -> MPG encode. An AVI -> MPG encode. So, base on this little senario, I must say the problem lies with the divx 4 and 5 codec.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong. -
Well, I think I found a way around this problem.
1) lauch Virtualdub and save the divx file as a raw AI with huffy codec
2) encode using TMPG
Seems kinda ridiculous to do this, but this is the only way I can get to encode the stupid file. -
how do i save as raw AI file? its not in the file menu. i am hacing the same problem, thanks!
-
First you have to delete all the files in your TMPG folder, then re-extract the TMPG program files to the folder again.
Launch Virtualdub and open divx file. If it doesn't load the first time, then you would have to install the divx codec. If you already have the codec and it still won't load, then try installing the divx 5 pro codec. This works for some reason.
Go to Video|compression and load the Huffyuv codec. Set the audio and direct stream compression and AVI audio. Now save the file by selecting File|Save as AVI (pressing F7). If you experience audio problems then you have to use the full processing mode for the audio.
The resulting files will be very big, usually in the gig range.
Hope this helps. -
i kno some people that have XP, and it still works, i wonder what is wrong. do you still do it this way. or what?
also, i dont see "HuffyUV" in the conversion thing, can you help me out? do you have AIM? or MSN, ICQ?YAHOO? thanks! -
They may have an older codec installed. I've found from personal experience that the new codec will run the divx file, but sometimes stutters. You might want to first install the 3.11alpha codec then the 5.0 codec.
Another reason would be the divx file is corrupted. In which case you can try to fix it.
The Huffyuv is a lossless avi codec. You can get that in the tools section.
Nope, don't have any messenging of any kind. -
i just installed 311, then 5.0 and same error, nothing changed. how do you do it now?
i even reformatted windows 2 days ago, and that didnt help.you say that the HUFFY UV is bad quality codec? -
Huffyuv is a lossless codec, this means there are no compression involved.
If what you're doing is still not working, I suspect the divx file is corrupted.
If you're using win2k or winxp, do this:
1)run mplayer2.exe
2)load the divx file in it
3)select the properties
4)look in the video and audio codec to determine which codec was the file encoded in
This should give you an idea of what codec you're using so you can download and install the proper one. -
ahh man! this totally sucks. i tried virtualDUB, and save with huffyUV, and with FAT32, you can have 1 file, only 4GB big. so i couldnt encode it all, and i dont think i have all the space. i wonder whats wrong with TMPGEnc, what will happen if i get other ppl's ntdll.dll's?
-
Well, try converting your drive to NTFS or using virtualdub, save the movie in sections, that way you will overcome the fat32 limitation.
Getting another ntdll.dll won't work. I've tried replacing the file using the orginal file from the installation CD, to grabbing it from diver cache, it won't work. -
so u use the huffy codec at the moment?i wonder wtf is wrong with the codecs. what about getting ntdll.dll from sum1 that uses tmpgenc?
-
I use the Huffyuv codec for all my captures and it work fine.
It won't help to grab the ntdll.dll from someone else. This is a windows file and this mean this is the same file on virtually everyone's computer. -
damn, does that suck, or what. is there another codec, kind of like Divx, but not divx? that will work with TMPGEnc? what about getting the Divx dlls from ppl?
-
im replying here because im also getting the problem with 'ntdll.dll'......ive made backups of many dvds using smartripper, dvd2avi, tmpgenc, nero.....i tried backin up first 3hr long movie and after checking encode immediatly in tmpgenc i started getting the ntdll.dll error.....i know the error here was related to divx and not dvd.....does the source matter? ive tried backin up the movie in 3 parts....still error.....ive left all the settings in all programs default per the sefy guide.....might need to make some specific changes but not sure where.....any advice will be helpful.......thx...one more thing, im also running XP if that helps....thx
