    i have a panasonic home theatre system and i have my tv speakers on 0 or mute
    i noticed that sometimes the audio/visual is out of sync when
    i watch tv from roku or my cable box

    is it my home theatre system?

  2. Could be input lag caused by the TV processing (audio before picture). Try to find out if your audio receiver has a delay setting to make up for it. HDMI 1.3 added optional auto lip sync but support is a matter of luck.

    How is everything connected?

    Delay usually occurs when you have a device connected to the TV and then output audio from the TV to the AVR. Which causes the video to be before the audio. No adjustments (that I'm aware can fix this).

    If all devices are connected to the AVR, and then the video is output from the AVR to the TV, there typically isn't any delay. But if there is, the audio is typically before the video and you simply adjust the delay of the audio to get things in sync.
