  1. Is the insertion of images in posts behaving oddly at the moment? It has the last couple of times I did it. Let's see....

If it's misbehaving it'll display twice.

  2. I used the "upload image" button to add the image. I'm fairly sure that normally causes it to appear as an attachment when you use the "manage attachments" function, but it would only appear once in the post and it'd be resized down as required (as the first one is). Normally you'd click on it for a full size version, but now you have to click on the image where it displays a second time for that.

Could this be a forum option I've somehow altered? Although I'm sure I haven't changed any personal forum settings for quite a while. Can others see the same image twice in my previous post?

Probably that's just another "collateral damage" caused by some obscure changes that Baldrick has implemented in the forumware...

    EDIT:

If it's misbehaving it'll display twice.
    Yes, it appears two times

  4. El Heggunte,
Thanks for letting me know. Hopefully Baldrick will turn up and offer an opinion later.

Indeed, it doesn't seem to be working properly at all.

Choosing the pencil icon and setting thumbnail doesn't actually work. And the pencil icon isn't available anymore as soon as the post has been saved. Usually you can change the image display options indefinitely.

  10. I'll log in with Firefox and try again shortly.

  11. Firefox 45.0.
When I tried to browse for the image, Firefox offered a message about Adobe Flash being outdated and asked me to allow it to run. Which I did.

  14. I'll look at updating the Adobe Flash misery and return to try again.

Ahh...... so that's why there's such a big gap in the layout at the top of each page (like this one). There be ads I've never seen before (sorry).

Just in case updating the flash misery makes the problem go away, but someone asks what happened....

Pic no1 is what the dialogue box looks like for uploading images and pic no2 shows what happens when I click on the little black square in the bottom left corner.

  15. I only have one other browser installed on this PC (oooooo, the text is so much smaller here), and that's the one that comes with XP. IE6. So while I'm waiting for the flash misery to finish updating....

Doesn't look like it'll work at all for IE6.

  16. Back to Pale Moon with the flash misery now updated. As a test, and for funzies, here's how different the image upload dialogue looks when using IE6.

  17. I guess the outdated flash misery isn't the cause.

  18. One last test with Firefox 45 after the flash update.

Interestingly, the flash blocker add-on never lets me upload images until I click on the icon to prevent it blocking flash when I'm using Pale Moon, but the same flash blocker add-on doesn't try to block me uploading images when using Firefox. Not that it would have anything to do with the issue, given I've tested with add-ons disabled.

  19. For the record, I'm certain I've uploaded images with Pale Moon since the last time I updated it, which was probably a month or two ago, and the problem's only started within the last week as far as I know, so I don't think it's a browser update causing it.

    www.whatsmybrowser.org says:

Your full user agent string is:
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.1) Gecko/20100101 Goanna/20160630 PaleMoon/26.3.3

If it helps at all the process seems to be behaving perfectly normally, until I submit the post. I can stop the extra image from displaying by using the "manage attachments" function and deleting the image as an attachment. Then it'll only display once but not as a thumbnail so it can't be clicked on for a full size version.
I'll do so for the following images before I submit the post.

I didn't click on the pencil icon, just showing how it looks before submitting. After submitting the post and then using the edit function, the pencil icon no longer appears.

The first image is 1280x640 and if you right click and save, it saves as 1280x640, but it's being resized down for displaying in the post. At least it is for me.

Both images in your latest post are showing as broken links for me, which is the normal behaviour when you Upload an Image then delete the attachment here.

I was using Chrome, by the way. Haven't tested again since Baldrick's post and I'm on mobile atm.

Edit: The "standard" editing setting works as expected. Maybe I should switch to that for the time being?

  23. The above post was after changing the forum preference for editing to "standard". Switching back to "enhanced" for this post.

  24. It's kind of hard to imagine how it could be a browser issue though as everything appears normal until the post is submitted. How could I be submitting posts differently to someone else? I'm applying the update for the latest Pale Moon and when it's done I'll try again.

I wonder how that works, given they show for me.

When I checked the list off attachments some of the pics for which I've deleted attachments are still listed, but there's no thread or post listed. They display as:

  26. I was running Pale Moon 26.3.3 (XP/Atom version) which I've now upgraded to 26.4.1.

Well, that didn't help...... but this is something that's started happening quite recently. Image posting worked properly before then.

Try refresh a few times. THey could be cached.

I will try Pale Moon and see if I can find the bug.

I have recently changed some html code so it's html/xhtml valid, see https://validator.w3.org/

    It could cause the problems.
