Hello.
Just recently, in the last week or two, videohelp.com is VERY SLOW to load the home page and often does not finish loading. Other pages are slow but mostly complete.
Firefox is similar but "not quite" as bad as in Chrome.
In Chrome it spends a lot of time trying to load and then hangs on trying to connect and load "stuff" from something called skimresources.com
It does eventually complete in Firefox, but forget it in Chrome.
adblockplus extension is installed to kill off the zillions of nag cr*p which hits people from every possibly annoying angle on most web pages nowadays, including some which start videos and max-volume audio (the b*st*rds only p*ss people off from buying the cr*p they try to flog) ... could it be adblockplus - although that's been in my browser for a very long time and videohelp was "fine" until recently
antivirus scans negative and it only happens on videohelp.com
Any ideas ?

Been slow for me, everywhere lately.
-c-Yes, no, maybe, I don't know, Can you repeat the question? -
SLow downloading files also?
Like https://www.videohelp.com/download/HandBrake-0.10.5-i686-Win_GUI.exe -
Faster now? I have removed some slow javascript code.

all good for me

Thank you for trying.
In Chrome,
- https://www.videohelp.com/ took 2 mintes of "Loading" but seemed a bit fasterthan it had been.
- this thread page still had "Waiting for forum.videohelp.com ..." for 3 minutes before finishing.
All other websites are fast (I'm on 100Mbs cable, so it's not the pipe to my house nor the browser).
Just tried IE11 - similar result but only 1 minute to load.
Oh wait, in IE11 I now see a bloody great ad at the top for Bing Lee or DVD converter; could it maybe be adblock plus in Chrome interfering with an already slow ad load ?
Australia, generic Win10Pro X64 with nothing fancy installed. -
I wrote too soon. IE11 is slow as a wet whistle.
The download of the file in the link in a post above gave about 650kb/s.Last edited by hydra3333; 23rd Sep 2016 at 20:55.

Can you try disable javascript in chrome and load the site ?
Is www.leaseweb.nl also slwo? -

Not to my knowledge. I'll check.
962x90, if it's an ad maybe I see it as huge due to zooming for old eyes. I'll try a range of other pcs too. -
How very very strange.
3x PCs with 3x flavours of o/s (including a laptop), and they all behave the same - videohelp.com is VERY slow to load.
All other websites "fast". Downloading files from videohelp "fast".
Changed DNS on one PC from the ISP's to 8.8.8.8 - but still slow.
Rebooted routers - but still slow.
Connected laptop directly into cable router - but still slow.
Connected a laptop via wifi to a mobile phone tethered hotspot - tickle me with feathers, it loaded "normally" fast.
My cable modem's IP is 58.160.13x.xxx
A Blacklist Check on my cable modem/router IP via
https://www.whatismyip.com/blacklist-check/?iref=public-ip
shows some stupid YES entries, eg cidr.bl.mcafee.com
which gives me the right heebie jeebies, since I'm clean and my cable modem/router IP is DHCP'd from my ISP Telstra
Conclusion - either
1. my ISP (TELSTRA in Australia) is somehow interfering with videohelp website. Don't know how, nor why.
2. my cable isp-provided/managed modem/router is somehow interfering with videohelp website. Don't know how, it's worked "fine" before up until recently.
3. videohelp.com is somehow throttling web responses sent via Telstra's network or to my IP.
Suspect the issue is #1 or much more likely #3 given the issue ONLY occurs with videohelp.com web pages from one IP.
Either way ... WTF ?
Looking for suggestions on how to diagnose further, particularly #3 (wifi hotspot is not available for a few weeks, busted my data limit).Last edited by hydra3333; 24th Sep 2016 at 22:49.

Sounds more like your isp is throttling your connections since you have a very limited data.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
OK, I tried videohelp.com on a 4th PC on the same network connected to the cable modem/router - it is hideously slow as well.
So, it isn't PC related.
I tried a friend's PC on his different network and it's "fast".
It HAS to be videohelp.com itself doing something based on IPs ? -
It's your isp since it's fast on another network,do the math,it's fast for me.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
Thank you for responding, johns0. I did do a little arithmetic and a bit of sussing out too; please see the range of tests above.
It is ONLY (yes ONLY) videohelp.com website web pages which are affected and only from the home IP I'm assigned.
It's high speed everywhere else.
I could believe that my ISP Telstra (Australia's almost-monopoly and simply huge ISP) is choosing to interfere with just that one website's web pages (.exe download files run very quickly from videohelp) for just my IP address ... but I don't believe it as yet.
I should mention that the mobile phone which I used for the WiFi hotspot test was a Telstra mobile phone plan ... kinda pinpointing it's just a combination of videohelp.com and my IP ... on that basis (Telstra runs both slow and fast) I'd venture to suggest some videohelp.com server configuration settings malfunctioning possibly to do with blacklisting and/or throttling. -
In terms of plan and possible ISP throttling, in case you were interested, I checked and I've about 600gb left on my plan this month and speed tests yields about 100Mbps download speed.
Cheers -

Sure ! Not ruled it out, just looking at the probabilities.
In regard to the routing, from an end-user perspective I've seen symptoms like no connection, or packet "black hole destination" like 30%-50% but not a symptom of slowness loading on a site's web pages only (downloading exe files seems to be OK). IIRC something sort of like this happened a few years ago and it turned out to be getting a different home IP fixed it. Hence the eyes on videohelp.com as possibly the highest probability. -
58.160.13x.xxx
Thats your problem ... I would always reject the telstra 58 and 120 as the servers are absolute utter garbage ... try and see if you can get any other ip by turning modem of and back on after 4 minutes ... it can take that long for the telstra service to repool that address and clear it. -

It was just a matter of time...
now the "videohelp.com won't finish loading - and loading is VERY slow" thing is happening to me -
Is https://www.leaseweb.com/nl/ slow?
I haven't noticed any server problems in several years...and have same web host for several years. -
I'm sitting here with a relatively fast PC connected with 60/60 mbit connection. Using Firefox 47. I can't notice any slowdowns or loading issues on videohelp.
I'm located in Norway.
