Hello, I'm sitting here with an i7-3820 PC (with not much installed) connected with 100Mbps connection. Using Chrome, Firefox, IE. I do notice huge slowdowns and loading issues on videohelp. I'm located in Australia.
Code:ping -a www.videohelp.com Pinging www.videohelp.com [85.17.24.140] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 85.17.24.140: bytes=32 time=337ms TTL=41 Reply from 85.17.24.140: bytes=32 time=319ms TTL=41 Reply from 85.17.24.140: bytes=32 time=322ms TTL=41 Reply from 85.17.24.140: bytes=32 time=319ms TTL=41 Ping statistics for 85.17.24.140: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 319ms, Maximum = 337ms, Average = 324ms
Is https://www.leaseweb.com/nl/ slow?

Hmm. Lots of timeouts out at videohelp's end - although Telstra is slow, videohelp.com does not look to be behaving "normal".

Check with telstra and confirm if ip is static or not ... if static get them to change it.
If not static then like I used to try releasing it (turn unit off for 4 minutes) then back on to check ip assignment, it might take a couple of tries to get assigned a different ip range ... sometimes, not often I'd leave off till next day. -
Thanks. Cable modem is set to dchp, so it's a dynamic IP, unless there's a reservation at the Telstra end (which would be unusual, it's a dhcp plan).
Yes, have done both of those, unsuccessfully, including two courtesy of an electricity outage in my state
I'll try again.
edit: tried again, the dhcp leases must be long lived as the IP is unchanged.Last edited by hydra3333; 1st Oct 2016 at 00:46. Reason: tried again

the part timing out isn't at your end. a different ip at your house won't help. it's the hop between leaseweb and videohelp. some script kiddies might be doing denial of service attack or their routers are just on the fritz at leaseweb.
--
"a lot of people are better dead" - prisoner KSC2-303 -
It seems the companies who use the DOCSIS technology make the dynamic IP addresses "live" for much longer than the companies who use ADSL/VDSL technology. Different from what happens with a DSL router, turning off + turning on a cable modem does not cause an immediate change in the assigned IP address
-
-
if it's hackers doing a denial of service attack, it will clear up when they decide to end it. they use distributed ip's that are hard to block.

Okey. Leaseweb answered. They want you to do a mtr bidirectional test, see https://kb.leaseweb.com/display/KB/Making+a+bidirectional+MTR
From windows use : http://winmtr.net/how-to/ and use ip 85.17.24.140. At least 100 packets are required, and Resolve names must be turned off in the Options menu.
From linux: mtr -n -r -c 100 85.17.24.140 -
OK, I'll get onto it.
PS I asked on https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2571711&p=-1 and at least one other person with a different ISP has the same issue.Last edited by hydra3333; 3rd Oct 2016 at 09:06.

Just FYI, that's a typical tracert.
The timeout is internal Leaseweb network, and not unusual, nor does it reveal a problem.
The latency appears typical as well, for non-EU connection.
When I tracert, I get Telia to the Leaseweb network edge, then don't get another IP result until this site's server.
The issue probably lies between Australia and Europe. BTW, that's a lot of on-continent hops.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Thanks. No doubt the Telstra techs are doing their best ... it does seem like quite a lot of Telstra-internal hops, doesn't it
Given other feedback, unless another Aus ISP uses Telstra infrastructure for "connection" at the Aus end of things then it maybe looks like a routing issue possibly at leaseweb's end ? -
from the usa there is a weird loop in the tracert. signal path goes from usa to nl back to the usa and then forwarded back to nl. yayo.com seems to be the holdup here.

I don't think that image matches the route.
It doesn't appear to.
And I don't think this is a Leaseweb issue.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

OK. Well,
, this post https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2571711#r2 seems to indicate that's 3 major Aus ISP's (Telstra, iinet, Optus) who have users "affected".
It loaded very slowly for me on Internode ADSL2+ and Optus mobile broadband. -
removed double post. damn it, i must remember not to post when for whatever reason a page hasn't finished loading.

Just watched it again, and when loading the home page "https://www.videohelp.com/" it waited for minutes stuck on the message "Waiting for p.skimresources.com...", then more minutes with "Waiting for t.skimresources.com...".
Funnily enough ... now ... with other pages, eg forum pages, it loads normally in terms of elapsed time.
Go figure.
Cheers
edit: 1 Well, this is looking like a possible culprit given each timeout takes a fair while, and when taken in conjunction with the browser messages above :-

Close enough to instantly displays as text
Thanks for persisting. Progress, of sorts. As of just 5 minutes ago, using Chrome
- it took forever to load the main page, other pages were very fast
- turned off javascript (browser still open) and the main page was very quick
- cleared cache (browser still open) and the main page was very quick then turned on javascript
- closed and opened browser and the main page went fast past p.skimresources.com but is now slow as wet whistle and "stuck" on t.skimresources.com
A tad baffling but there you go.
Tried firefox, similar behaviour.
Cheers
