AVI -> VCD/SVCD - A few questions

1) I have burnt 2 VCDs and both when played on my DVD were very good only that sometimes the movie had those weird colors on the screen, like mixed up colors, and after about 10 sec it became normal again. If u could help me solve this, i'll be thankful.

2) I want to make AVI -> SVCD but the proccess takes about 18 hours (11 at low settings) and thats really annoying. Is there any way to increase the speed without reducing the quality (too much...) ?

3) I tried, using Submux, muxing an AVI movie i got with a subtitle file, and the results was a 300kb avi file that didnt do nothing. What am i doin wronge? The subtitles are good for as much as i know and the movie works good also. Help.

4) What is the easiest way to make perm/selectable subtitles to a VCD movie?

5) What is the easiest way to make perm/selectable subtitles to an SVCD movie? (I know i asked this before but any guide i tried was too difficult or didnt work someway, like the muxing thing which doesnt work for me for some reason)

I have a new (just bought it) GRAETZ DVD Player, which works with VCD/Mp3/SVCD and any other type. It was all written on the manual book that came with it. just so u'll know...
