  1. I love this old player that I bought at Vanns back in 2004. Its remote is loads more functional and comfortable to use than the unbelievably clunky one for my Cambridge 650BD player. Even the JVC's analog output sound quality is better. The 650BD region free. The XVNA70BK plays PAL but won't play Region 2 and 4 discs. Is there a fix for this?

there are no hacks for this player - https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/jvc-xv-na70bk/3728
and not all dvd players can be made region free.
look in the instruction booklet to see what region discs the player will play.

Nobody here has ever "made" a region hack. They were either discovered through trial and error button pushing based on a previous model's hack OR they came from information accidentally leaked from a factory service manual.
I said "were" earlier because with the advent of Blu Ray.....there virtually are no more hacks.
