(I THINK THIS IS THE CLOSEST THREAD I CAN GET TO FOR THIS ISSUE, MY APOLOGIZES IF ITS INCORRECT)

I got Sony Vegas Pro and it works great, but I have one problem I just can not find an answer to. I'm using a 6 second audio clip, and I'm trying to stretch it out so I have more room to work with on my timeline then just about three centimeters. When I drag it down the audio just loops, and when I hit ctrl and drag it out it goes in slo motion. I want it at the same speed, just longer on my timeline, please help!

Vegas pro is an editor. Not a software player. Moving you to our editing section.

Of course will it be slower if you stretch it a lot.

Any change in speed, produces a change in pitch. That's the law of physics.

There are some facilities in Sound Forge (and probably Audacity) that can stretch the audio but leave the pitch the same.
    For example, Sony Elastique

But is that even the question? Sounds like a UI issue where the OP can not see enough detail
