I know that brightness fades over time, but what about color saturation/accuracy?

I've got one monitor, LCD, it's pretty old and it's starting to look washed out with poor contrast and color. This is used in a business environment and has thousands of hours of use. So yes, they do wear out.
It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly

Yes, they do wear out. But it would be interesting if you specified the make and the model of the monitor, plus its "running time".

"thousands of hours of use" is too vague.

The one I'm using right now for example, says ``23111 Backlight Hours´´

I'm not at work today so I can't give you the model but it's an Acer and has over 61,000 hours use.
