Editing MPeg2 in premiere

I am trying to edit some mpeg2 files (ripped from DVD) in Adobe Premiere. Since I am unable to do it directly, I used DVD2AVI to get intermediate avi files using huffyuv as a filter. I used the settings ;Predict median' as YUY2 compression and 'convert to YUY2' as the RGB compression setting. (I tried various other options, which did not give me viewable avi's). The problem I have is that I am not fully satisfied with the quality. Is there a way to get better quality avi's into Premiere?

Interesting, I just read something similar in a thread about best quality AVI. Check that thread for help.
