Hi all, I haven't posted here for a while. It's nice to be back.

I recently edited a movie for a friend using Premiere Pro. We finished the editing, placed titles and music and then I exported a 'first cut' for him.. My friend then took the exported mp4 and had someone else colour grade it for him. I don't know what process they used. My colleague has already paid for the colour grading, is very happy with it but wants changes without damaging quality of the mp4.

Is it possible to normalise or even replace the audio without degrading the mp4 we have? Is it possible to replace some titles at the beginning and end of the movie without re-encoding our colour corrected version?
Can any sage member here assist me in this?

    peace

  2. Use any demux/remux program to replace the audio. Use ffmpeg or similar tool to losslessly join together one or move MP4 files (to attach new titles/credits to the existing color-graded MP4).

    Hi, thanks johnmeyer.

My problem is I have to replace parts of a poem in the audio which were recorded in a room seperately. I am using Premiere pro to edit so if I process the audio files of the poem in Audacity they will automatically update in Premiere pro. I can then then export just the audio from Premiere pro and normalise the whole track before remuxing.

Does that sound like a plan?
    Thanks for the interest man.

    peace

edit: I would be using Audition not Audacity for audio clean up.

  4. We're missing some pieces to know the ideal strategy

Find out what system was used for color grading and what kind of intermediate files were generated -- and if you can get your hands on them. Resolve has easy round-tripping with Premiere and Adobe SpeedGrade can apply grades directly into a Premiere timeline.

What kind of titles are you replacing? Are they superimposed over an image or on a plain background? Are these Subtitles?

If the colorist output the .mp4 initially. It may be easiest for the colorist to do the title replacement.

You may want to look into the free trial of TMPGenc Smart Renderer which would allow you to replace the single shot and also has tools that will allow you to remux the corrected audio into the new version.

Hi guys, thanks for all the answers.

My problem has changed a little.

I now have been supplied a colour corrected film in .mov format. I am going to export my corrected audio from Premiere pro. What format should I export the audio?

I am thinking of exporting in .WAV format.

The new video has about 10 seconds of extra footage at the start so when I remux I must be able to put the audio back in synch with the new video.

What program should I use to remux .mov with a .wav file?

    thanks guys
