  1. I hope I will be a perpetual newbie. I have several DVDs of cartoons that I want to separate out individual 'toons for work. What is the best way to do this? I need to separate each cartoon from the DVD. I've messed around with a few converters that I use and when cutting, the remainder of the DVD goes somewhere (I can't find where it goes to).

Most DVDs of cartoon collections have each cartoon as a "chapter" on the DVD. You can try something OLD like DVDShrink to find and take each toon/chapter with ZERO quality loss.
Plenty of guides around for DVDShrink's "Reauthor" mode.

  3. Yep, that's one way. In addition, you can decrypt by cell (individual cartoon, usually) using DVD Decrypter.

Or, once the DVD is on the hard drive, using PGCEdit you can separate out the chapters (tick 'single cell') and save them as VOB files ('create a PGC VOB') to work on afterwards. If there's more than one chapter/cell per complete cartoon, then separating 'by VOB id' should probably work.

Thanx so much for all the help. I will check them all out and if more help is needed, rest assured I will be back. I usually need help. It's because I'm really not as brite as I like to think.
