I don't think you can. The AIW 8500 probably only captures at 640x480; hardly HDTV resolution. It will look great anyway though.

As for software and settings, read the FAQs and guides.

There are no consumer formats (aside from DV maybe) that can reproduce the quality you'll get from over-the-air high definition digital television. Furthermore, most American television stations broadcast most of their schedule in standard definition digital television, which is DVD resolution at a higher bitrate.

You'll need an HDTV tuner/capture card to even pick up the over-the-air signals, as they are broadcast in a vastly different part of the spectrum than analog TV is (analog TV is broadcast, in the United States, on either side of the FM radio spectrum space). If you have an HDTV tuner card (the only one I remember seeing was made by Hauppauge), you should be able to use your current capture software to capture at any resolution your computer can handle without dropping frames. That may very well be 640x480.

There are 3 HDTV capture cards I know of: HiPix, Hauppauge and one other Accesstv?

They all differ, but the HiPix card allows recording AND you can reportedly convert the rather large recordings into MPEG using a freeware program.

The HiPix software is also being modified by users to fix bugs and extend its capabilities.
